Getting Rid of those "Quarantine Blues"

Like many of us in the world, the Covid-19 epidemic has been stressful. It's a situation we have not known, and it's become a foreground for depression and anxiety. Depression and anxiety can be felt by our beloved pets which can bring various issues to the surface. We have all felt this, in one way or another, and know my thoughts are with you.

I was raised with the philosophy of "the only thing that likes to wallow in the mud, is a pig" (no offense to the pig lovers out there). I really strive to be proactive in stressful situations and these past months, I have really done just that. We've made some amazing changes and improvements to Greywood Manor Provisions with the Tea Steeper's Club, new products like the Dog Shampoo Bar, Sweet Balance tea, that helps regulate issues for diabetic pets, and some redesigns with our bags, labeling, and website. It's been refreshing for me personally because I didn't have time before all of this to get everything on my list done. I understand not everyone is in the same boat, however, we are in the same storm, and we are trying to be a bit of light in the dark for our customers and pet owner's alike.

Immersing yourself in positive things is a great way to take your mind off of things. Making improvements and adding to your arsenal of knowledge is another way to alleviate the Quarantine Blues. I personally have also started delving more into positive reinforcement training with our grey parrots and dogs. The cat, Sadie, for some reason wants nothing to do with that part. I think she might just think it interrupts her sleep.

Saturday, January 30th, 2021 Greywood Manor and From The Perch - A Podcast is sponsoring the Avian Summit. It's a totally online webinar series, with some amazing speakers, who are experts in their fields. We thought it would be a great way for bird people to get together and be able to learn from some charismatic speakers, Also we wanted people to be able to take their minds off of the daily. Dr. Jason Crean and I are hosting the event, which should be interesting in itself, and we have a variety of topics. We even have exclusive content from the world's most-followed veterinarian, Dr. Karen Becker! Sign up, it's going to be a great time!
